As a 6 year old, she began her acting career as a regular actor on the PBS children's educational program Sesame Street. She continued to appear in a variety of productions in her home city, New York, including the Broadway show Fences, which featured James Earl Jones and, later, Billy Dee Willis--as well as the off-Broadway musical Orfeo del Campo. The show won Star Search twice when she was just seven years old. Her second appearance earned her four stars.
